How to schedule your COVID-19 Vaccine Appointment In Connecticut

Over the next few months, the distribution schedule will continue to move a lot of us up the line. The state will continuously update those who are eligible and will pave the way for those who are trying to schedule both their first and 2nd doses. If you are eligible to get vaccinated, but don’t know how to schedule your appointment, AFC Urgent Care Torrington will help break it down for you.

We will continue to provide accurate and updated information on the vaccine distribution schedule, what phase we are in, who is eligible, and how to navigate through the scheduling process.

What phase is Connecticut in for the COVID-19 vaccine schedule?

As of March 1st, Connecticut’s distribution schedule will go by age group. March 1st will include educators, child care providers and ages 55 to 64. Anyone who was supposed to be a part of phase 1b will now follow this schedule.

If you were a part of the Phase 1a plan, which included health care workers, first responders and long term facility care residents, you can STILL get vaccinated if you have not done so already. You will need to schedule your appointment (keep reading).

How do I sign up for a COVID-19 vaccine appointment?

Connecticut and Governor Lamont  advise that all eligible residents make an appointment in advance of receiving the vaccine. As CT state has multiple locations offering the COVID-19 vaccine, it is important to note that not all clinics or vaccine centers are using the same method for scheduling an appointment. However, you should be aware of the following ways to schedule your vaccination so that you’re prepared when choosing a center.

Here are the easiest ways to make an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccination :

The Vaccine Administration Management System (VAMS) is a great tool that can be used to schedule appointments and to find clinics/centers across the state.  To make an appointment using this system, click here

Important tips when using VAMS from the link above:

  1. Enroll with VAM’s first so that they can send you an email to create the account. Be on the lookout for an email from no-reply@mail.vams.cdc.gov. Check your spam folder just in case!
  2. When you get the email, create an account and then register.
  3. You can then choose a vaccine clinic or center and a time slot that works for you.
  4. The system has a center finder with a default radius of 10 miles. You can extend the radius if you prefer.

You can view this one page VAMS navigation tip sheet for more detailed directions: https://portal.ct.gov/-/media/Coronavirus/VAMS-Navigation-Tips.pdf

Another way to schedule an appointment is to call Connecticut’s COVID-19 Vaccine Appointment Assist Line —> 877-918-2224. The line is open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm 7 days a week. Please be advised that there may be long wait times.
